What does success look like to you?

22 June 2016

For me, success comes in many forms, including personal and professional levels. I have been lucky enough to be able to find successes across both.  In 2012, I made the decision to compete in an Ironman (3.8km swim, 180.25 km bike, 42.2km run) in Western Australia and to raise funds for a worthwhile charity.Marie-EER-Middle-East-sm

Over a period of nine months, I raised a total of $40,000, which bought a much needed bus for the RAEY Foundation. RAEY is a community school, based in Ethiopia, for children whose families suffer from extreme poverty and illness. Many of these children have lost their parents to HIV/AIDS. If not for RAEY, many of these children would go without regular meals and education, and receive little support.  RAEY provides essential schooling in a supportive, protective, and nurturing environment and attends to the health and nutritional needs of the children and their families.  Taking a fundraising plan from conception to completion, in addition to working and training, were
tremendous personal successes.  On a commercial level, I can only feel immensely proud of where Executive Expatriate Relocations (EER) is today. I joined in 2010, and at that time, the business consisted of just two staff members in its Dubai office.  The highs and the lows over the intervening years brought many lessons, and today we have a solid team of 18 professionals, all of whom work extremely hard to further accelerate the success of EER. We are focusing on providing excellent service, not just in the UAE, but also in Oman, Kuwait, Bahrain, Qatar, and Iran. We are strategic in our growth plans and will never compromise on our exemplary service levels. Success for me is being able to lead my team, through hard work and commitment, and to continue to deliver on our growth and ambitions across the Middle East.
