Having working in the relocation and global mobility sector for 15 years, we know what an undertaking it can be. Our globalised society has made it even easier for companies to source the best talent from around the world. But in such a competitive market place, you also want that talent to ‘hit the ground running’. That is why it is vital to make their introduction as stress free as possible, so they can be as productive as possible. With recent developments upending how we conduct business, everyone has to adapt to new realities. That is why we have expanded our supporting services even more with a Virtual Preview Visit.
Preview Preparation
Moving to a new location can be a daunting prospect. When that move involves wanting to impress at a new job, you definitely don’t need added stress. Previously companies might opt to arrange a preview visit for the new start, so they can get comfortable with their new surroundings and make arrangements for the big move. They could come and check out the office, get to know the city and view some potential homes. With the complexities of relocation, this initial trip was often crucial to reducing worries and getting the assignee used to their new environment. The global pandemic has not only changed the way we can travel in the short term at least, it has highlighted the areas in which we can all be more efficient.
Savings and Sustainability
A Virtual Preview Visit not only means you can avoid worrying about overcoming travel restrictions, it is a far more cost-effective and sustainable way to accomplish the same goals. The client won’t need to outlay budget towards temporary accommodation, additional flights or per diems; thereby significantly reducing the overall relocation cost. By conducting the preview remotely, it also adds to the company’s sustainability credentials as it reduces their carbon footprint. It also helps to save time (and stress) for the assignee, ensuring they can focus on getting excited about the move and their new role.
How it Works
Bespoke Beginnings: The first step is for one of our Client Account Managers to understand the specific requirements of the client and the assignee. We design each of our Virtual Preview Visits to reflect the bespoke needs of those involved, so we can be as efficient as possible. Is the assignee single? What type of interests do they have? Which facilities would they prefer to be close to? Will they be driving? Do they need to be beside public transport options? What about those with families? What type of schools would they like to see? Does their partner work and where will their office be located? What type of community would they like to live in? By taking into account these factors we can create a more efficient Virtual Preview Visit that will give them all the information they need to make the right choices.
Property Tours: Based on the assignee’s preferences, we can conduct a virtual tour of a series of properties so they can get a sense of what options are available. We can provide an initial range from which they can then choose the ones they would like to go through in more detail via a virtual chat with their Client Account Manager.
Community Preview: In addition to the potential homes, our Virtual Preview Visit includes a look at the surrounding communities and their facilities. Depending on the preferences of the assignee, we can show them schools, pools, hospitals, restaurants, parks, shops and tourist spots. This allows them to get a much better sense of what it would be like to live in the location. With the one on one interaction, they can ask specific questions and their Client Account Manager can tailor the Preview Visit to accommodate their needs. This way the assignee gets the opportunity to really get to know the destination, and all from the comfort of their sofa!
