The UAE’s Reading Nation campaign smashed its target of five million books be distributed to unprivileged children in Arab and Muslim countries.
The campaign, concluded on Wednesday, raised a total of 8.2 million books since its launch on June 6.
It was launched by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, to coincide with the start of Ramadan.
“As we have entered the last ten days of Ramadan, we conclude today [Wednesday] our Reading Nation Ramadan campaign with 8.2 million books to be provided to those who need them,” Sheikh Mohammed announced on his official Twitter account @HHShkMohd.
