Expat workers in Dubai are to be educated on labour rights and duties, under a government training initiative launched this year.
The Workforce Training Institute was set up in 2014 by Sheikh Hamdan Bin Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the Crown Prince of Dubai.
It is managed by the ‘Orange Team’, which comprises representatives from government departments including Dubai Courts, Dubai Police, the Permanent Committee for Labour Affairs (PCLA) and the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation, according to Gulf News.
After an initial period of incubation, the institute has reportedly begun preliminary training for around 100,000 of Dubai’s blue collar workers – representing the first phase of its activities.
