Emirates Green Building Council (Emirates GBC) has begun working with the Dubai Supreme Council of Energy with the intent to double the rate of energy efficiency in buildings by 2030.
This resolve follows the partnership between the World Green Building Council and the Building Efficiency Accelerator (BEA) also aiming to raise efficiency within buildings. The Dubai Supreme Council of Energy is a member of the BEA.
The BEA is only one of six accelerators under the Sustainable Energy for All, an initiative carried out by the United Nations Secretary General. Dubai’s partnership with Emirates GBC works in line with its strategy to reduce 30% of energy demand by 2030.
Emirates GBC is a forum working to promote environmentally friendly practices. It is also one of four GBCs working globally with governmental authorities, with counterparts in Poland, South Africa and Colombia who work to come up with the best actions to increase energy efficiency.
“Helping the city to establish a policy or programme that will make a meaningful impact on the energy efficiency of its buildings is fundamental to our mission, and we’re delighted to be involved in this partnership through WorldGBC.” Says Saeed Al Abbar, Chairman of EmiratesGBC.
