UAE Ambassador to India praises expat contributions

The contributions of Indian expatriates were praised by the UAE Ambassador to India on Wednesday.

Dr Ahmed Al Banna described their role in economic development for both countries during a meeting with the state of Kerala’s chief minister, Oommen Chandy.

The ambassador said the UAE plans to open a consulate in Kerala’s capital, Thiruvananthapuram, next month, according to Wam, the state news agency.

Mr Chandy hailed UAE efforts towards safeguarding Indian expats’ businesses and interests.

The UAE has been the most popular destination for Keralite expatriates. More than 38 per cent of Keralite emigrants were in the UAE
