Five companies bid for Dubai Route 2020 metro link

dxbrtaDubai Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) is currently evaluating five bidders for its Dubai Metro Route 2020 project, according to a senior RTA official.
The 15-kilometre route will extend from the existing Nakheel Harbour and Tower Metro station on the Red Line and will end at Expo 2020 venue, according to Zawya Projects News.
“We are evaluating the five companies who bid for the project. We plan to award the contract shortly,” said Abdul Mohsen Ibrahim Younes, Chief Executive Officer (CEO), RTA’s Rail Agency.
A source told Zawya Projects that the tender is likely to be awarded by the end of April.
The five companies being evaluated include Nurol Construction and Trading Inc., Gunal Construction Trade & Industry Co., Orascom Construction Industries, Acciona SA and Obayashi Corporation, industry sources said on conditions of anonymity.
Route 2020 will have seven stations passing through communities including Discovery Gardens, Al Furjan, Jumeirah Golf Estate and the Dubai Investment Park.
The total network of Dubai Metro will be 90 kilometres, while the entire rail network, including the Dubai Tram, will extend to 101 kilometres, according to a Gulf News report last year.
The work on the Green Line extension design will begin by next year, said the CEO.
